i think the reason that some people who quit started back up again because they stop receiving the incentive often so they saw no reason to stay clean and were still clean because they said that they were not starting back up again
No I don`t think a smoker would quit for $100. Why? Because I have an uncle who smokes. He HATES smokeing! But no matter what he does or how hard he tries, he just can`t do it! Its very difficult!
i think that a smoker would not quit for $100,becouse he or her uses a lot more money than that to buy cigerrete packs.i would think that he or she would ask for more money!:/
i read the two papers given by our instructors and thought it was very interesting and i was in awe when i saw the final results of their information they gathered.
I believe that a person would respond better to a visual incentive such as ''I you quit smoking we'll give you $100'' than an invisible one such as ''If you don't buy cigarets you'll save $225 a year''.
It was very informal. I was very shocked on how many packs of cigarettes people smoke and buy a day. I really don't think that people would stop smoking for one hundred dollars because it is an addiction that people have so it might take way more than one hundred dollars!!
I thought the reading had good points but I disagree, because even though there is a reward, you can't just quit. Its a terrible habit, but it's more of a decision and you have to be committed and it's addicting. No matter how much money is offered you have to be committed and actually want to quit. It's more like mind over matter.
My thoughts on this reading assignment are I don't think people would quit smoking for $100 because it's a bad habit for people that have probably been smoking for half their life. It would be hard for them just to quit even for $100. They would probably take the $100, and use it to buy more cigarettes.
another thing,is that a smoker would not give up unless there was a HUGE amount of money offered,i have seen smokers try to quit, and fail.it is very addictive once u start its really hard to go back.
I think that paying people to stop smoking was a good idea, but i also think that people should want to stop smoking for the health benefits as well. Isn't the possibility of catching lung cancer or becoming toothless enough; i guess not.
oh,so that was the homework!!!i did that!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it would take abit more then just a hundred dollars to makes a smoker quit. I think that if there was more money then more people would quit.
ReplyDeleteI dont think people would do that because smoking is addicting and they wont quit for as little as $100

ReplyDelete100$ wouldn't be enough to stop somebody smoking.Maybe if there was more money involved the person would stop.

I think smokers would stop smoking jus for a little bit of money, if was a lot more maybe they would easily quit

ReplyDeletei think that people may have quit for a while for the money, but because its addicting they might want to go back to their usual ways.
ReplyDeleteI think that using an incentive to help people stop a dangerous habit could help people.
ReplyDeleteprobably not because some people have a hard time to quit smoking
ReplyDeleteyet, maybe they will quit for $100 when they see a photo of an infected lung, they might quit to get healthy again.
